We are currently working on the login issue and hope to be back up here fairly shortly.  We deeply apologize to everyone who's trying to register for the 100 Card Singleton tournament.

We've continued to push the envelope and listen to the MTGO community to making this site even better.  Over the past few weeks we've been behind the scenes making advancements to the deck database area.  So go test it out for us.

Just click on Beta Test area to see the new layouts and improvements.  Once we have everything tested and finalized I'll make a more formal announcement.  You may make all comments and suggestions here on this blog.

So I'm msg'd from a long time friend today on MSN with this bit of information:

Wizards of the Coast is pleased to announce that we're upgrading to a new community platform. We are in the process of migrating our forums to a system that includes a host of new features like friends lists, groups, an invite system and calendar, blogs and wiki.

The forums will be down until at least August 26, and possibly through the end of the month. We apologize for the inconvenience.

He then passes me this link http://puremtgo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1801puremtgo.com/forum/viewtopic.php where Hamtastic spoils this information.

I'm also in the group of folks lucky enough to preview the new WotC Community Site. It's nice and should be a very good replacement to the old boards.

Think MyMTGO + WotC Boards, but for all WotC products and you'll be about right. You can do the normal social networking stuff. Blog, wiki, etc.

What do you guys think?

Attention all players.  This is your open invitation to join us throughout the month of September for a 100 Card Singleton tournament sponsored by MyMTGO.com.

Game Play

New matches will be announced on Wednesday's starting on September 9th.  Based on the number of registered players we will do this event in weekly waves.  A waves consists of each player playing between 3-5 games between different players.  Each game will play best 2-3 matchups.  Everyone will have 12 days to coordinate with their opponents and meet up online to play their matches.  Each win earns you 2 points with a max of 4 points per match.  Each loss earns you 1 point.  A draw earns 0 points.  During the wave portion of the tournament players are allowed to change/modify their decks.

Each week I will place an announcement on both the home page of MyMTGO.com linking to the 100 Card Singleton Group discussion thread for that weeks matchups.

There will be between 4-6 waves depending on the number of participants.  At the end of all the waves there will be a Top 8 single-day, single-elimination bracket tournament.  The Top 8 players will be the players with the most points at the end of the waves.  In the event of a tie in the 8th position or below there will be a single-elimination, best 2-3 matchup to determine the tie breaker.  The bracket tournament will pit 1-8, 2-7, 3-6 and 4-5.  During the T8 bracket tournament, players must submit to the deck database their final deck.  No changes will be allowed during the bracket tournament.

Results

The results of the games must be posted in that weeks wave thread found in the 100 Card Singleton group discussion by the home team regardless if the home team wins or losses.  Failure to report the matchup will result in a loss for the home team.  Failure to report will cause you to forfit the match and no points will be awarded to the home team.  In the event if a discrepency in results I will personally communicate with the players and make my decision on a case-by-case basis.

Prizes

Awarded at the end of the tournament are top 3 prizes.

1st Place: Force of Will

2nd Place: Grindstone

3rd Place: Sword of Fire and Ice

1st Place: Force of Will     2nd Place: Grindstone

3rd Place: Sword of Fire and Ice

Entry Fee

There is no entry fee for participating in this event.

Registration

You must be a member of MyMTGO.com in order to participate in the event.  You must join the 100 Card Singleton Group.  Respond to the registration thread.  I strongly encourage that each player only register one of their MTGO accounts for this tournament to be fair to all of the competitors.  Regsitration closes on September 5th, 2009.

Promotion

I strongly encourage everyone to help promote this event.  You can simply link them to this blog here or whatever you want to do.  The more participants the more waves.  The more waves the more fun.

Good luck and may the draw be with you.

Category: Draft

Back in July I thought I would make an attempt at drafting ACR. Not too good results if I remember correctly.  I'm apart of the beta for raredraft.com.  Dan, maker of TCGBuddy for the iPhone, was kind enough to invite me after a mild begging.  Thanks to wrongwaygoback who tweeted me the idea.

His site allows you to import draft files /My Documents/Games/Magic the Gathering/Draft if you have the draft recorder enabled).  His site then integrates the data into a slick flash output.  You then use the embed tool that he fixed over this weekend to get this result in a blog you write here.

After you submit your deck it goes into your TournamentDecks folder C:/Documents and Settings/{Username}/Application Data/Wizards of the Coast/Magic Online/3.0/Decks/TournamentDecks/Match_#_DATE_TIME.DEK.  You upload that file to the site here on MyMTGO.com and use the newly announced deck embed feature here to get the following result.

1015

This is pretty damn amazing if you ask me!!

I've just been granted 5 special invitations for people who want to help test this application.  If you want one please message me here.  Thanks Dan!!

Thanks to the efforts of Matt (webmaster410) and JacQues (Infobot) we have made a few minor changes to the deck view portion of the deck database.

EDIT WORKS

As reported by platipus10 there was a small minor inconvience regarding the edit function, mainly how it didn't edit but recreated the deck.  This has been a lingering issue and has now been fixed.

FAST LINKING

We've made it even easier for you to share your decks with everyone by including 3 links on every deck.  Use the URL to paste it into MTGO, use Embed Code if you want to post in a forum or the MyMTGO Blog Embed Code if you want your deck to appear in a blog.  Note, the MyMTGO Blog Embed Code will only work here on MyMTGO.com.  To use it just do the following:

While creating or editing your blog click on Source.  Paste the MyMTGO Blog Embed Code then switch back out of source.  Your result will be like the following:

990

Pretty amazing stuff!!  Our next upgrade is actually quite amazing as soon as we get the kinks worked out from Internet Explorer.
